According to the Bible, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is good, but did you know that sometimes faith is misplaced, that we can put our faith into something which has no validity?
It's true. There are a lot of people out there who have faith they'll be going to heaven one day. Some of them believe everybody goes to heaven when they die. Others believe if you go to church you'll see heaven. And then there are those who attest to the fact that if you live a good life then you'll go to heaven. There's only one problem with placing your faith in these beliefs. None of them can be supported. Those ideas can't be upheld because there is no proof, or truth, to back them up.
I've heard it many times. Truth is relative. The term "relative truth" ,though, is an oxymoron. Truth cannot be relative; if it is then it's not truth. Likewise, the term "absolute truth" is really redundant because if it is truth, it will be absolute (we don't need the adjective to describe it there).
I started thinking about this not too long after watching a news story about a lady in our area who lost her home to a fire. She had a fire hydrant not too far from her home, and she put her faith in that hydrant. She told the reporters that she always believed that if her house ever caught fire, she could depend on that hydrant because the firefighters could use it to save her home and her life should she be in the house at the time. When her house caught fire, though, the firefighters hooked up the hydrant and it didn't work. It would not send out any water at all, and her house burned to the ground (fortunately, it happened during the day when she wasn't at home). She really believed and put her faith and truth in that hydrant, but in the end, it didn't save her home. If we try to place our faith in something other than Jesus Christ to save us from our sins and enter heaven, we're going to find ourselves stepping out into eternity to a place we don't want to go; it'll be too late. We can endorse "relative truth" all we want and try to be "politically correct" as not to offend others, but it's not going to get us to heaven unless we know what real truth is. Real truth is found only in the Bible. It's God's way of saying..."Here, I've given you the instructions for life. You don't have to worry about whether you have the right information because I'm going to provide it for you.". Isn't it good we have a God who wants to ensure we know the right path to eternal life, so that we don't have to guess and just "hope for the best"?
If you're still living life hoping that you'll get to heaven, there is a way you can know with certainty. Don't spend another minute in doubt. Get into God's Word, and he'll show you the way. His name is Jesus Christ.

When it comes to the FLESH, truth is relative. When it comes to the spirit, "it is what it is. "THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH'
