Jesus Cleanses Us!

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

Hi! I agree; that is a very reassuring verse. What of the Christian who tries to stay on the right path, but who sins repeatedly in an area of weakness for them having to repent over and over and over and over again; before saying ENOUGH! And making a hyper-concerted effort to "tame" that particular sin. Will God still have patience with them? Will that verse still apply? I believe it will; but there is diversity of opinion on it. I think all Christians have a certain sin or weakness they have to deal with. Of course, it makes you wonder, too, if they have such a problem with dealing with it whether they're truly saved or not. If they are, though, I do believe that God forgives any sin if a person is truly repentant and asks for forgiveness because the scripture says that God cleanses us from ALL unrighteouness. :)

I agree! That is, if they do it repeatedly year in year out with no great concern about it. But I have known Christians go through a short period of time where they repeatedly sin in one area; before realising that it has to stop, and so with God's help, break through and stop the sinning.
