What started out to be a happy 4th suddenly turned into a nightmare.
My father-in-law and mother-in-law were coming over to our house yesterday on the 4th when they had a head-on collision with another vehicle. A car tried to pass another vehicle (on a double-line area of the road and on a hill, on top of that) and wound up hitting my in-laws' car. By the grace of God, both of my in-laws survived. My father-in-law was rushed to a hospital about 10 miles from here, while my mother-in-law was flown by lifesaver helicopter to another hospital. Fortunately, their injuries, although bad, could have been much worse, according to what one of the nurses told us in ICU. My mother-in-law was initially knocked unconscious, and had a broken wrist and dislocated ankle for which she had surgery. My father-in-law is also in ICU, primarily for observation. It is, without a doubt, a miracle that they both survived, and my wife and I both thank God for being with them throughout the accident.
Unfortunately, the passengers of the other vehicle did not survive. The female passenger died at the scene, while her male companion died later at the hospital. They were very young, too, both in their early 20's.
I'm sure those two young people had no idea when they woke up that morning, ready to celebrate the holiday, that their lives would be gone by the end of the day. As the saying goes, life is fragile, and it really is. We should all wake up every day and just thank God for giving us another day of life (even if the Lord does not give us the entire day).
I do hope and pray those two people had reconciled with God. The Bible tells us our days are numbered, that God knows exactly when we'll be leaving this place. Since none of us are privy to that information, each of us needs to make sure ahead of time that we know that we've made peace with God.
Have you made peace with God? If not, please do it today. If you haven't made that peace, you are literally gambling your eternal life away. There's too high of a cost involved to let that decision just "sit on the shelf". The Bible says TODAY is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2), not tomorrow, not next week, not next month, or even next year.
God loves you, and He wants you to live with Him one day in the beautiful place He's preparing. If you're not saved, or just aren't sure, please email me or visit our site.
